The Secretary's official duties include recording meeting minutes, receiving all money from the Brethren and paying the same to the Treasurer, completing statistical returns to the Grand Lodge, and advising the Worshipful Master on matters of procedure. It is not unusual for the office of Secretary to be held by the same member for long periods of time, even decades.
